International Congress of Karst, Speleology and Valorization of Natural Heritage

The International Congress of Karst, Caving and Valorization of Natural Heritage attracted considerable participation, with 120 participants from 8 countries, indicating a notable interest in themes related to Karst. The diversity of presentations was ensured by a rich program, including 10 conferences and 50 oral communications. Thus offering participants an in-depth immersion in the field of Karst and its environment.

Morocco occupies a strategic geographical position in the northwest of the African continent. 

The quality of the geological records ranging from the Precambrian to the Quaternary, the paleontological richness and diversity, the uniqueness of the outcrops and the innumerable geomorphological and biological forms and landscapes are assets that are worth to Morocco to possess an impressive geodiversity, in particular its karstic riches of which many remain unexplored.

 In view of this geodiversity and the riches of its geoheritage, it is considered a paradise for geological researchers.

 Caving and karst exploration is a multidisciplinary activity with high added value that combines different aspects: scientific, educational, sporting and leisure.

Aware of the importance of natural heritage, Mohamed V University of Rabat, Faculty of Sciences and the Moroccan Explorers Society Association in close collaboration with its partners are organizing the third edition of the International Scientific Congress of Karst, Caving, and Valorization of Heritage natural from 02 to 05 November 2023 in Rabat.

This event will aim to open the debate on the importance of natural and geological heritage in Morocco.

It is also an opportunity to develop a summary to be made available to decision-makers for optimal and sustainable enhancement of heritage.
